Re: MicMix MasterRoom Spring Reverb Project

I think it could be for boing. IIRC Orban used a limiter in their unit.

The shunt limiter is in the drive side or receive?

Re: MicMix MasterRoom Spring Reverb Project

We used the 13.5 ms line in the XL-305 on that same sled. The transducer that the spring hooks on to is a piece of wire soldered into a brass tube. It has quite a bit of pull strength.

Re: MicMix MasterRoom Spring Reverb Project

Thanks jlm for your post. When you have the springs cut to length, how do you attach them back to the transducers? You have to re-form the hook which is fairly easy. The women at MicMix who did this affectionately refered to themselves as "hookers" since that's what they did for a day or s...

Awesome Parts Sources - Surplus Sales and ApexJr

Makes me want to drive to Omaha. We used to have places like this here. About the closet thing now is Altex, Tanner and B&G Micro. http://www.surplussales.com/ Check out the rotary switches and Shalco attenuators. While were at it let's not forget our own member Steve and ApexJr: http://www.apex...

Speaking of the "hair thing", you can wear them while wearing Optivisors! I seem to be using those magnifiers more every day
My wife gave me one of those LED headlamps. Handy if you don't mind looking like a cyclops or coal miner.

Re: Using the THAT1646 As A Transistor Pre-Driver/Headphone Amp

Roger, your measurement method sounds right. Left and right weren't in series were they? Are yours the new or vintage variety? We used to have K240s at DSL (may still do) and I'd have to change the transducers by the truckload. Someone would be running a mix or working in the control room without ta...

Re: Using the THAT1646 As A Transistor Pre-Driver/Headphone Amp

Nice work Roger! I'm looking forward to getting the boards. I posted your pics over at HeadWize. When you get the chance, measure the output Vos at the junction of the emitters for both channels. I think you'll find it to be pretty low, <10 mV. You might want to lower the series resistors in the sup...

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation

driving both ports is more opportunity to add noise via CV.
Yes it is though if correlated they might cancel.

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation

Yeah Roger I did misunderstand. Not a whole mixer of 1x2 cards just optional add-ons. John: Would there be any advantage in the pan CV circuitry to use both VCA control ports? Could that eliminate some CV circuitry? For instance steer gain to Ec+ in one scale factor (e.g. 0 to +4.5 dB) and attenuati...

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation

I think for Vref you would want to use an LM334 current source to provide PTAT (temperature compensation). Consider this one or something like it: https://www.ka-electronics.com/images/jpg/PTAT_LM334.jpg Image Courtesy of THAT Corporation Another design idea would be the single (1X2) card. Then as m...
